Advise please, my partner has poor mobility and cant stand up straight. She currently uses a Canon A640, ideal with the 'flippy-flappy' screen, she looks down at the screen with the camera on a mono-pod, at about waist height.

Problem, the lens suffers from lack of zoom, so rather than walk closer, which can be a problem, she take a shot, a bit 'snapshoty':|

So I thought, simples, Bridge, Super zoom, VR and a flappy screen . . . Problem, tracking that lot in one package seems to be a problem. DSLR . . . a 'no, no' . . . to heavy and unwieldy with a super zoom, I have just traded my heavy Nikon kit, for something lighter, still DSLR, back to basics, when one gets older it starts to tell . . .

Back operation in the next few weeks, then its 'no pain?', but still wont be able to stand up straight, the mobility will be better . . . we hope?

So a new 'Bridge camera/super zoom/VR' would be nice for Hazel for the summer, any suggestions . . . ?

what about the micro 4/3rd cameras? they are smaller and lighter than standard SLR.

A Pan. G1? They've come down in price and I guess the shape might be better than the GF and Oly. PEN bodies.

(The more expensive G2 has the pull out screen)

One of the new fuji finepix models has the flappy screen and a rather impressive zoom I think, the s100fs. I think it's got manual zoom rather than the push button zoom if that makes any difference. Worth a look?

We use the panasonic G1 for elderly photographers, it's a fabulous camera about to be replaced and a superb deal at the moment but it does get heavy when you put on the 45-200mm.

I reckon you're right, the superzoom is the way to go, not something I normally get involved in but check the reviews, Fuji often do well. John

I used to have a nikon P90.....24x zoom, flippy flappy screen etc....
