A couple of Birds

Went to Beale Park a few weeks ago finally got round to processing a couple. Any C&C welcome. Pics take with my Canon 400D and the Canon 70-300.

#1 is spot-on but#2 looks a little soft around the eye. Ultra-sharpness is crucial for this sort of thing where the fine detail in the feathers is critical to the success of the shot.
It also looks as though you've done some blurring of the background - the demarcation between the head and background looks odd...

I did do some bluring in the background on 2, thought i'd try something new will keep practicing Thank you for your comments

as arkady said #1 is lovely but 2 you just missed the focus, lovely birds those.
