Critique A Couple of Grisedale Valley

Stopped for a brief visit to the Lakes on the way home from seeing Bonchelli in Glasgow, here is a couple of Grisedale Valley

The first is a lovely shot. I think you couldn't have done much better compositionally. Good exposure as well to bring out the shadows under the tree, as well as the snow on the peaks and the bright cloud.
The second doesn't do as much for me thought.
I'm heading over to Grizedale on Saturday so was interested to see some of the scenery for some ideas before I go!

Thanks Matty, these was from a quick 50 min walk, that was all we had time for more the pity. It was the first time I have been to the Grisedale Valley some stunning scenery.
