A cygnet in B&W

First off, I am still struggling with what looks good in B&W and I welcome comments on these from that perspepctive. Also in this set I have concentrated on the shapes of the bird and the reflections in the water. Usually I would take a few shots of several swans, this time I just kept the same subject in each of the shots with the overall aim of getting a nice set of 3 or 4 shots of the same bird.

Whilst these appear to be nicely exposed, none of the images 'grab' me. I think you need something fairly dramatic to make a killer B&W shot. I'm not sure that birds are good subjects for B&W shots, perhaps an exception would be a silhouette shot over a misty pond sort of thing.
