A dog called Trigger

I checked with Google. Dogs shoot Americans at roughly the rate of one a year. That's about as many people as get shot by police in the UK.

I can't find the story at the moment but some years ago, a guy landed a large fish in his boat (In the USA of course)
He had a loaded 12 bore in the boat (God knows why though) and the fish tail hit the gun, and the trigger, the result was the same.
A bit of a fishy tail ( :D ) but allegedly true

And on a more serious note...
[QUOTE="Allie Carter, of Avilla, in Indiana, was wounded after her 11-year-old chocolate Labrador stepped on the 12-gauge shotgun she had laid on the ground, pressing the trigger.

Indiana conservation officer Jonathon Boyd said the gun went off as the safety catch had not been on at the time.

Ms Carter, who had not undertaken a hunter education course, needed hospital treatment for her injured left foot but was later discharged.
She was very lucky to survive
How very American of the officials - what they should really remind people about is that it's lunacy to have a gun loaded unless the person responsible for it is pointing it at something that it intends to shoot. That's just very basic gun safety in all other countries.
And, as for safety catches, they are far from safe on shotguns and can't be relied upon. And, if the basic safety protocols are followed, safety catches aren't needed anyway.

I was just telling the Mrs this tale, and as I got to the middle of it she looked quite concerned, but chuckled at the end, it seems at first she thought the stupid bint had shot her dog, which would have been quite sad. However the dog shooting her is just funny (I'll never fathom women)

I remember a story of a spear fisher man a few years ago drowning after the Napoleon Wrasse he speared dragged him along behind it. Another fishy tail maybe, and I can't work out why he didn't just let go
