Can someone have a look at my website and check to see how visible the menu items are at the top please. They look fine on my mac and on my monitor at work but the missus has just checked on her laptop and you can't see them at all. They are white on a white background but with black shadow so they should be visible.

Just want to know if it's just her laptop (TBH, photos and such do tend to look washed out on it) or whether it's a more common problem in which case I may have to revisit the design.

Ta very much

Link is in my sig BTW

Cheers Dave, looks like a rethink is on the cards then

All links visible to me on both monitor and laptop, whether idle or on scroll over.

Monitor on 1920x1080
Laptop on 1024x768

Hmm, it would appear to be monitor dependent then.

BTW, that issue with centralising the contact form I told you about yesterday? The CSS code worked but thanks for the offer anyway.

your title ok
1 red 4 white links...ok

but 'welcome' text is cut in half horizontally

screen 1280x1024

It is down to the browser settings, Marc.

I've just tried with four browsers.

With Internet Explorer 7 or Sleipnir - I can see Home but none of the others unless I hover over them.

With Google Crome and Firefox - Can see them all.

Rats! I'm annoyed with myself for not checking that one! :D

Tringa's spot on, it's how the browser is rendering the CSS/Coding. My IE is seeing it as reported by others above. FF is fine.

And regarding the form - Yup I noticed! :)

Looks fine on Desire HD :)
Res 800@480 ;)

I can see them, but that font/formatting on them and the rest of the text with the drop shadow is playing havoc with my eyes. Its really not very easy to read.

Hi Marc, I'm getting the same results. It can sometimes be worth testing the compatibility with an online checker like browsershots.org. Just type in your URL and chose which browsers and OS you want to test. You usually have to wait a while (I've found up to 30 minutes at times) but heck it's free.

Hi Marc,

Can you still get a registration with adobe browser lab, they open and shut registration but it lets you see how your site renders in any OS browser combo

I just got this, which I thought was interesting.

I'll have a look at that Hugh, thanks.

Fine in both FF & IE8. The font in IE seems slightly more bold and less three dimensional.

Hello Marc,

Nice simple and clean website - my Windows XP PC screen is set up at 1024 x 768 (using Google Chrome or IE 7) and as said above I need to scroll down to see the Welcome Section on the Home page.

- there appears to be a "blank block" between the links to the other pages (or is this reserved for Extra links?) and the start of the Slide show area or is it that the Slide show area has been fixed to be near to the bottom of the screen that is generating the spacing? [When I browsed the other pages, they had the same blank block underneath the links.]

I also need to scroll to the right to see the whole page - but I think that may be due to the "Marc Falber jpg" being approx 900 pixels and the "Welcome jpg" being 1000?

I wish I could understand all the HTML coding, whenever I look at any code, it appears to be repeating itself several times - I am seriously 10 years out of date when back then I relied upon Microsoft Frontpage to generate webpages for me...........................not understanding the coding at all!

On the Portfolio page there is some extra text -a reference to Rapidweaver plugins, perhaps this could be the source for the extra blank text being inserted on the other pages?

Is there going to be a page about you and the location areas you cover?

As I said above, a nice clean looking site, only wish I could generate something similar myself.

- will have to buy myself a "Website creation book for Dummies"

regards
Roy

Strangely, it's the other way round for me. That said, the monitors I'm viewing IE on are rubbish!

All is well on an iPad.

Cheers John, good to know

Will revisit that John, I'm too used to lots of pixels on the screen

Thanks Roy. I'm still trying to work out how to get rid of that gap between the menu and the rest of the page. I know nothing of code myself which is why I use Rapidweaver (Used to use Dreamweaver when I used Windows).

I wasn't aware of any extra text on the Portfolio page. Ah, do you mean in the code? That page is built using a plugin so that may explain it. Shouldn't affect any of the other pages though

the logo image is a little pixelated in FF compared to IE?

Curious, looks fine on FF at home but then, everything looks good on a Mac! :D :exit:

Can see everything fine on IE8

Cheers Mike. I changed the links to black to they should be visible every where now.

Hi Marc,

I hope you didn't mind but that was me trying to see if it was a compatibility issue before I posted. Apologies if I worried you. In hindsight I should have asked first. Being free they obviously limit the number of times you can attempt within a certain period.

No worries, I was able to view your previous search. I never realised how many difference browsers there were!

I can see the words fine here.

Windows XP, IE 8, 800x600

Cheers. Hopefully that's because I changed it to black. ;)

Your welcome message says 'I offer a professional service service'.

I've just sacked my proof reader and I'm amazed this thread got to page 2 before anyone noticed!

Cheers matey, corrected.
