A few questions about the 600d

I'm lookin to upgrade from my Sony a200. I was warned when I first joined this site that this is an expensive habit and thus it is proving so!

I'm looking to buy the 600d mainly for pics not so much the vid. I understand the rebel range is considered the lesser brother of the main set. But specifications on the 600d come very close to the 7d which is out of my budget range. So why IS there such a gap price wise when the stats make it sound much closer?

My budget is a total of around 750/800 but with this I want to buy a lens or two too.

I'm not partial to Nikon or canon. So any other recommendations would be welcome.
 
I would like to add I do know there are difference in the casing itself! But that can't be it can it?
 
You can actually get a D7000 here on the forum for around 650-700£ which is defo worth the money and a 18-70 and 50mm 1.8 and this will total to around 850£ :)
 
The main differences are the auto focus system and the continuous shoot speed (if we forget about the case, weather proofing etc). Also it seems that the 7D has a very very slight edge according to DXO mark in relation to the sensor, but then again the sensor seems a little more sensitive on the 600 so really not much to choose in relation to that.

The 600D is a great little camera and in honesty the biggest gain in quality once you have a good body is not getting a better body but putting better glass on the front. If my wife comes to shoot a wedding with me she will use a 500D with an 85mm f1.8 and the results are fantastic!
 
yeah i've checked on Kerso's site and the prices for the 600d are very agreeable. there's a 550d deal which again is very appealing.

i think its a right distance jump from my previous cam too.
 
hi you have to look at what you want if the swivel screen and wireless flash are a must then i would get the 600d if not the 550d is just as good
 
Not so much for the swivel screen but the wireless flash would be great. I go to a few camera club shoots so that would be an extra cost not needed.
 
Just found out how much I have to spend £850!

What kind of extras etc should I be looking at for this amount?
