Hi All
I've just gone a bit crazy and got hold of a Sigma 50 - 500mm lens, which at the moment is attached to my Nikon D50, but next week will become attached to my new D7000
! I have bought this lens for wildlife photography, and from the very few shots I've had with it so far, I am very impressed. But I have a few questions to ask, and reckon this is the best place to ask them! So here we go...
1) I need to get a bag to carry my gear in, including the Bigma. I recently made the mistake of making an impulse buy in getting hold of a second hand Tamrac Expedition 8 from eBay - nothing wrong with the bag or the price I paid, but it is just way too big, even for this lens and all my gear. It really is huge, so when I get round to it I'll be selling it on here. Anyway, my question is, which bag is suitable for the Bigma, along with a couple of smaller lenses, a camera body, and a few smallish bits and pieces?
2) I have a decent tripod, but it is pretty heavy and I wouldn't want to carry it far. So I reckon I want a lightweight monopod which will bear the weight of the Bigma, and which won't break my bank (as I've done that already!). Less than £80 would be good, with head included. So please recommend a suitable monopod for the Bigma.
3) I should probably get a filter or two for the lens, mainly for protection, but also to help my images. There are some pretty pricey 95mm filters out there, but I'd welcome your thoughts please on what I should be looking to buy. I'm happy not to spend more than £60 if at all possible on this particular area!
4) I have a Kenko extension tube set, but haven't tried them yet with the Bigma - can they be used with the Bigma?
5) Is there anything else I should try to get hold of to go with the lens?
I think that's all for the moment, and thanks for letting me pick your brains!
Cheers
Alex
