All taken yesterday at a very cold, gloomy, overcast South Gare breakwater, near Redcar

The light was horrible so I was constantly riding the exposure compensation to get decent shots, but, I'm happy with these 3

All taken with a 50D, ISO 200, f/6.3, 1/320 sec, between +1/3 & +1EV, Canon 28-300L@300mm

love em - the water on no. 3 looks brilliant - incredibly sharp, and the capture is the best of the 3, no1 and 2 are great - but the surfer looks a little less confident in them both

fair play to the surfer as well going out in that weather!

great set, they've inspired me to get out and try some shots myself.

any advice for a wannabe surf tog?

Many thanks for the comments guys

any advice for a wannabe surf tog?

Try & get the surfers face in shot, shutter speed above 1/400 sec to freeze the action, watch for the surfer going to the top of the wave (that's normally where they do stunts/tricks)..and have fun ;)

Oh, and sunny days are much better than gloomy, horrible overcast days ;)
