A few Typhoon Shots

Thanks for your comments.

I was going for a silhouette look with #2 so thats prob why you think its dark

#2 is excellent shot - I really like that. For #1 I may have been tempted to get a little lower down and silhouette against the lighter sky - the plane blends into the foreground a little too much for me. Not a bad subject to shoot at work!!

Ey up mate. I spoke to you at work last week ref the formation of a camera club. Just seen these pics...one word..awesome! Think I need to bring my camera to work and let you show me how you get these pics! Keep up the good work!

#3 for me.

Thanks Ken (y)

I think the Castle in the background helps set this one off.

I see your point about #1. I couldnt get much lower tho, the right hand foreground is the left wing of the jet parked next to it which would of got in the way  :bang:

Orite mate. Just finished work :puke:

Should hopefully be meeting up for the Photography Club in the next couple of weeks to get things going so ill let you know when it is if your still interested?

Bring your camera in any time, you just need a permit from the police flight but hopefully ill get permission to dish those out myself soon. I just asked the Jengess for permission to go out on the line and she was fine with it. Even wanted to see my shots when id finished, she wants to get into photography herself I think.

Are you on flickr, ill add you if you are

Wow what priveleged access :)

#3 for me as well though it does seem a tad tight in the frame, would have liked a little more space on the right hand side...............pondering it, I think if you could get the pilot and maybe even a groundcrew silhouetted to give it look of "preparing for a dawn flight..." that would give a real sense of purpose & atmosphere!

Ah yes - I can totally see that now you say :bonk:. And actually, looking at these on a different monitor today they all look slightly brighter and I can make out a lot more of the detail.

no 3 for me too, gives a feel of peacefulness. and a cracking sky too

Thanks Mick (y)

Yea it is a bit of a prilelege suppose:D

That would make a great photo your right (y)

Would be a bit tricky to set up due to not being allowed to show faces etc but if they were a silhouette with their backs to the camera i think it could work, thats if i can get one of the lads to pose for a shot  (most arent to keen even with the RAF Photogs)

Ta mate :)

Originally I was a sootie which specialised in Aircraft Engines, but now were called mech's or heavies. Basically an Aircraft Technician covering anything mechanical.

I spent nearly 8 years at Wittering working on Harriers, only left in Feb.

What do you do?

im an mt tech or a fitter if you prefer haha

I like all 3, and infact I think the sky in shot 1 is superb.

I'm guessing this was at Conningsby, seeing as that's your location.

If so, I was there for a week in 1985 as a cadet on Summer camp. I managed to sit inside a Phantom inside its HAS - gave it a bit of throttle too, which was fun, thanks to the Tech guy who showed us around :)

You're not wrong; Andy got pushed to one side on a final-flight shoot today so that a wing commander could take the group shot on his point and click. We were stood there like lemons with probably £10k+ worth of camera kit while he took the shot (in front of the wrong jet) on a £60 thing from Asda...I cant wait for the *******ing for that on Monday, God bless 29sqn! :D

Shots look nice mate, nice colours. Any more updates on the phot club?

i like #2 best, shame #1 is a little too dark as the sky looks like it has superb colours to show more and the typhoon is a bit shadowed with the ground.
#3 nice to see Tattershall Castle in the background

Number 2 for me as well.

1. The sky looks brilliant here, real shame you can't see more of the plane and that tree in the back ground is a bit annoying.

I honestly hadnt even that tree till you mentioned it, point taken

Any news on whats happening at Wittering? My mrs is dying toget back there but i doubt there will any aircraft there for a while, if ever.

Yea its on 29 SQN's Line when i was on nights last week.

I usually work on 3 SQN out of the HAS sites which is probably where you went all them yrs ago (y)

Thanks (y)
