A game too far

Travelled to Dewsbury near Leeds yesterday. Was a great day and game but sadly for us we lost in overtime on a sudden death play. It was like the end of that wonderful film Friday night lights when the kids collapsed in floods of tears as did we. Still we picked em up and dusted them down and they will all go on to be great adults/people, which is why we do it.

To our credit we should have won and gave London Warriors the game of our lives. The difference? Well, London are funded by NFL Europe. They have the best coaches, the best training ground, kit, funds and travelled up midweek in a double decker coach and stayed in a hotel to prepare whilst we left at 7.30 yesterday morning on the best coach we could afford. They are the Chelsea of youth football.

Not sour grapes though, credit to both teams for a ding dong game that came dowm to one play in overtime after we missed a field goal.

Despite the obvious disappointment, Pete, your team should be proud of getting as far as they did - especially if the London Warriors are funded by the NFL. Now that you're got this far, is there no way that the Aztecs could secure some funding from them as well?

Cheers. No. The only thing we can rely on is subs from members, the occasional donation and the fact that people/parents keep dipping into pockets. A lottery grant/sports council grant may be awarded soon though, £4.8K which will go a long long way to new kit etc.
