A good people photography compact? LX3?

A friend of mine is just getting into people photography, so she asked me for some advice LOL. So, before I suggest the LX3, has anyone else got any suggestions? Her top limit is about £300 so the GF1 is a camera too far

For that budget i don't think she can go far wrong with a LX3.

It's a good call, but she will only consider new... sorry should have said that in the original post :bonk:. I on the other hand pref s/h in most purchases :shrug:

I say s/h as I think for what I have read and heard its better then the new G11 I have to say the G10 is a cracking camera

Edit:
£429 for the G11 is just too high for her, she is quite rigid on £300ish
