I started an evening photo course at college last year (NCFE level 1) and all has been going fine but now i'm a little stuck and would appreciate any advice.
I have learned a fair bit about photography and my dslr since making the step up from a bridge camera but i feel a little out of my depth on an assignment i have been give and its as follows.
Assignment.
A new modern hotel is opening up and wants a series of about 40 images to decorate its walls. The finished pictures will be 40"x40" canvases. They'd like something brightly coloured and with a simple, clean modern feel.Maybe close ups of flowers.Nothing too chocolate boxy, something quite abstract.Alternate subjects can include architecture as long as the images are non location specific and have a strong sense of design.
A coherent theme is essential so the pictures do not look like a random collection of images.
Please submit around 10 images printed on one or two sheets of A4 sheets of paper.
I discussed with the tutor and we agreed that 9 or 16 images would be ok as the images need to be square and that aspect would retained in presentation with either 3x3 images or 4x4 images.
My initial thought was to go with extreme macro shots so i can use either 3 or 4 flower heads as the initial images and then change the other 6 or 12 images in photoshop but i'm a little worried that could end up to chocolate boxy.
I thought flowers as it would maybe be easier to fill the frame with the subject and go from there.
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be very much appreciated.
