A little bit of advice please

I am not 100% sure this is the right place for this (if it is not i do apologise) but here goes..

I need to take a couple of reasonable portrait shots at home very limited funds (£20) and i have very little kit really so any advice woould be brilliant.

My plan was to use a black sheet hung behind and then some sort of tripod mounted light (light a workshop light) anything useful there lol..?

wouldn't a plain wall and natural light be easier..?

is meant to be sunny in Fleet this w/end !
