I would imagine they are working on something but I doubt it will be anything exciting.

The only thing I find remarkable about the d850 is the MP count and price tag

There will be a successor to the D750, but when is anyone's guess. It won't be ground breaking either, most likely inheriting a version of the D5's AF system, touchscreen and maybe a joystick. It's debatable whether it will offer more MP's or not.

What would be great is if Nikon would focus on creating live view with good AF, but at the moment that just looks like a pipe dream
