A question about Photobooks pulled from another thread

Just watch out with the Loxley coffee table book David. I have a small one at home that I had done as a tester and the binding process does not lend itself to double page spreads. I ended up with one folded on a face that looks like a mutant!

I didn't want to dirty DD's thread, so have pulled out the above comment...

Can anyone offer any advice generally regarding dps images in photobooks as I was wanting to do a few in a blurb book but am a little worried about how they will come out. I've never done a photobook so don't know how they are printed/bound. Is there bleed on all 4 sides? Are they bound in such a way that you need to allow 3mm overlap?

Has anyone used a company where dps's have come out well? Has anyone got any 'do not try with this company, it turned out cack' type comments?

The Blurb software does not do double page spreads as such (there are no templates for them).

You can do double page spreads by having two pages with single full bleed picture template and then use the same picture on both pages. You then have to size and position them to match up. They do suggest that for 100% accuracy you leave a little for the binding

They talk about this in one of the tutorial videos and also there are a number of posts on their 'Blurb Forums'. Just do a search for double page spread on the home page.

Thanks, that's what I was planning... will check out their site for more info :)

I did a double page spread on one of my blurb books. I used a sunset panoramic type on and left a little in the middle for bleed. I did exactly as Halflap suggested and it wasn't too much bother and it turned out okay
