A question on home networking

This may sound like a silly question but i cant find the answer anywhere!

This is the situation...

Just moved into my student home for the year
The router is in the room above me
I dont own a wireless receiver for my xbox
I have my desktop, macbook pro and an ethernet switch with 3 ethernet cables which I used at home on a wired network

There is no way of getting a wire downstairs


Is there a way to set up my PC or laptop as an ethernet switch sort of thing so i can plug my xbox say into my desktop and receive internet?
