A Redpoll in the sun (I think)

hey,
here is another photo from a recent trip to lochwinnoch, can someone please confirm the id of a Redpoll, and also i have been working on my cropping of bird shots so can i have some crit on that please, and while you are at it anything else you feel like giving crit on!
also i think there needs to be more dof so have now started stopping down to f/8 for wildlife rather than the f/5.6 that this was shot at, do you agree?

Can identify I;m afraid but the image looks a little soft on the head to me

I too think that's a Redpoll. It looks sharp to me, if it is soft then I would say at the back of the head, but that could be down to the texture of the feathers rather than a sharpness issue. Only minor but just a little more crop from RHS would be perfect. Well done
