A storm at Tynemouth

Another shot from my trip to the North East, this was taken at Tynemouth pier just as one of the large tanker ships was leaving the safety of the pier walls

Just love this shot pass this pier several times a week and have never been down there, thats about to change.

What settings did you use?

No to HDR conversion, but yes to Mono.

I may be tempted to crop a little sky so lighthouse was just a little more off centre.

Either way gets my thumbs up!

I was lucky that the sun was shining on the waves which allowed me to use a high-ish shutter speed.......

Chewy...the shot is already cropped quite a bit as the pier was closed due to the bad weather so I shot these from quite a distance and at the full 70mm of my lens, unfortunately didn't have a longer lens with me at the time

I'd lose some of the plain sky at the top too.

Yes, I like this, a perfect moment in time, captures the power of the sea exceptionally well,

I'd consider cropping a smidgen from the top, and I'm certain you are not considering totally ruining it by converting to HDR , although would look good in a gritty/contrasty B&W
