A very quick (and probably very easy) Lightroom question.

Edit My Images
No
I have an image which is 2 different folders. It's an abstract image I took in Berlin - so it is in both my Abstract and Berlin folder. Lightroom shows it as a 'file already in catalogue' and shows it in Berlin folder, but not my Abstract.

How can I get the image to show in both folders ?

Cheers

You can't. The folder in Lightroom is not virtual. It seems like you are trying to make you own cataloguing system by various criterias via folders. Lightroom does exactly this but in a different way - via metadata. Basically when you load each image in LR, you assign the metadata tags - say in your case "Berlin,Abstract". Then you can either search for them or simply define a collection (kind of virtual folder) which will contain images with sertain search criterias (say all images that have Abstract tag). This will allow you to have single image in multiple collections which I guess is what you after.

Rather than use folders, why not use collections.

You can have a single image in multiple collections, and it's always referenced back to the original. Makes life a lot simpler and Lightroom can handle that no problem

So you have a duplicate copy of the file....one in your Abstract Folder, one in Berlin?
(Ie as in duplicate file on your HD)?

Isn't there an option when importing to check for files already in the catalogue? This would need to be turned off when trying to import the image.

THe obvious question is why do you want the same image saved twice?

As mentioned above, collections would be a better bet. Or if you are feeling lazy, you could set up smart collections so that anything tagged with "Abstract" goes to an Abstract collection and everything tagged "Berlin" goes to a Berlin collection. Anything tagged with both will show in both collections, you would only need one copy of each image on your hard drive.

This would have probably got a quicker reply in the PP subforum, I didn't even see it in here.
