Yes
With the promise of good weather in the Loop today I was quite optimistic that the planes would come out to play, had to wait practically the whole day when the clouds started rolling in until something came our way!

Nicely done... We were up on CadWest until about 3pm and gave it up as a bad job! :(

The only thing that came near us was an F15 which went overhead and behind rather than down the valley.

208 were/are night flying at the mo.

Weather looks moody, but nice capture with the Hawk.

.

Definite night flight last night, they had one of their A/C do an approach to Doncaster Airport and disappear off to 40000ft.

Nice shots Tim, what sort of focal length do you need to get that close?

Hi Ian, generally I use a 300mm F4 lens on a full frame body, so with a cropped sensor you'd only need probably 200mm (Depending on which location you choose). The common fault with taking shots like this is that there's a tendency to zoom in and miss the aircraft altogether as they're approaching and travelling at a such a speed, I was guilty of that when I used my 100-400mm!

I've always fancied this and was hoping that on my 170 to 500 I could stay on 170 and not worry about zooming. This confirms my hopes. I'm on a cropped sensor btw.

The 1st & 5th is my favourite. It must of been a good experience shooting fighter jets.
