a whole bunch of camera equipment

My friend's Father passed away couple of years ago and it turns out he was a bit of a hoarder where camera equipment was concerned. She has asked me to find out if any of it has any value and to potentially sell it for her. Can anyone advise where or who I should talk to? I can list the bulk of the equipment but didn't want to put it in the wrong thread or get "told off" for advertising

I think all the cameras are film with the exception of one but there are lots of odds and sods like light meters, filters, tiniest filters I've ever seen, even rolls of film (although well out of date no doubt). I have no idea about the working conditon of them.

Can anyone advise what the best course of actions is - she's not looking to make megga bucks or anything, would just like to find a good home for anything that is of any use to someone.

The Price Checks forum of the Classifieds is probably the best bet, although realistically for the most informed opinions on it, Film & Conventional would probably be more accurate (I'd check with the staffers to see if that was okay though).

A lot of film equipment has very little value, and even the stuff that has more value is highly dependent on condition, whether they are still working, and other maintenance problems. You could have some gems in there, but don't expect it (is what I am warning!)

In case you didn't know, you can also check eBay for completed listings to see what prices items went for (click advanced search and you will see a "show completed" tickbox.

Sue - This is the one area where the whole "selling/checking on behalf of" bit falls down IMO.

It's obvious that the actual owner is never going to join and qualify, so they do kind of need someone to sort it for them - i've been that someone only a year or so ago, so know it's not a particularly easy thing to do. So - IN THIS CASE, as film kit is rather specific stuff these days, and as we DO have a very savvy and helpful Film Community here, should you wish to create a thread in pricechecks, it's been given ok by Admin, and i'll be keeping a view on the thread to prevent anyone complaining...
