If you wanted to print that large, what camera would you want as a minimum.
sorry to be vague, I'm not really sure what I mean:cuckoo:
I know you would want a quality lens, but body?
I assume the image would have to be put through some kind of
software to keep degradation to a minimum

thanks for looking

i reckon most 12mp+ cameras would give a satisfactory print but it wont be anywhere near the preferred 300dpi commercial printers require

I've had a few A2's printed from my Canon G9 and they're fine. But I suppose it does depend on how close to perfection you are looking to get. What sort of printer do you intend to print them on?

Its not actually for me, I would assume it would be farmed out

an A1 with a 12mp camera would be roughly 130dpi, on most large format printers that are used for exhibition displays that would be fine, but if you need up close perfection it wont be good enough

I thought Genuine Fractals would be what you need to upsize then you should not have a problem.

Scott Kelby's book of Photoshop CS3 talks about upsizing using the "wrong" method in Photoshop for the best results with poster-sized upscales, and also discusses the lack of necessity for a full 300dpi when you're looking at images from a distance. Good read if you can get hold of a copy.

i tried it and its no better than photoshop

very true, from a few feet away 130dpi will look great

I have printed A2 from my 6mp D40 and it turned out fantastic aslong as you don't press your nose up against it. From 3-4 feet it looks great which will be your viewing distance for an image taht size anyway.

Well said. You can print any size you like with as little as 6MP and it will always look good when viewed from the optimal distance.

I used my 30D for this Pano

Lee from Togsprint printed it. It was about 1.2 metres long. I upsized it in CS3. It looks great from any distance. I gave away the framed print as a present.

Speak to Lee (LeeP) regarding printing, he will advise you in a more professional manner.
