Nothing on the horizon to deter me is there?

Seems like a good body to use Canon mount zeiss mf glass, MF on the 5dm3 is not good without LV.

To use with Carl zeiss glass :) my 35mm 1.4 and maybe eventually the otus 55mm. Can use it for out and about.

I think you would be better of with an Fuji XT-1,again it depend on what you are buying the camera for :)
Nooooo!

The Sony is full frame so the lenses will have the same fov as the 5D and also the A7 should give ultimate image quality beyond that of the Fuji.

For work I always prefer my back up camera to be the same, then if anything goes wrong it's a much easier switch :)

Don't do anything to justify a second 5dm3 at the moment. It isn't a primary concern :)

The A7R pretty much has no AF but that is not an issue for the OP, so why not if money needs to be spent. MF is a hard game with anything over 24mm in a landscape genre

How about 1DX and AF lenses? :)

Not sure how the a7r AF compares to that of the a7, but the a7 is actually pretty decent at AF (far better than Fuji xe1 for example). Not a match for my 6D however, but good enough.

I think it depends what you expect.

I tend to use manual lenses on my A7 and indeed I've only used my A7 kit lens for test shots about the house and then it went back in its box - but - even the humble kit lens focuses fast enough (and with no front/back focus silliness and MA to worry about) and also does so in almost complete darkness... it's slow in near darkness but it gets there.

1DX? what for exactly.

5dM3 + AF lenses (what I have now) is plentiful for my AF needs - I think it only falls short of my unrealistic expectations sometimes :)

I have magic lantern on my 5dm3, which means I can use focus peaking in live view- which is a step up from using the OVF.

However I have just checked my MF lens on my 5dm3 again using OVF, and the entire grid lights up red when the focus point hits focus.. I can't remember whether it always did this, or was down to a change in settings - I should probably give it another go to see if this is sufficient for nailing focus @1.4 for slow moving people.
