At the moment my flashes etc are powered by Uniross Encore 4 x AA 2700mAh which charge in about 20min and have been superb. BUT they are getting old now and I worry they will start to fail soon so I am after some new batteries.

I have had a look and I can still find them but quite hard to find but I see loads of other brands out there

What AA rechargeable batteries do people on here use

I have around 10 sets of 4 AA's and they're the 7dayshop.com own 2900Mah and they are very reasonably priced. They last a very long time when not in use, the wife had some in her flash for around 6 months with intermediate use, and I've used them in my 580EX II and get over 600 flashes before they start to slow down too much.

Most people will come on and recommend Eneloop batteries though, which are excellent according to most reviews and last a long time as well. Have a search on here for Eneloops and you'll come up with loads of threads I'd imagine.

The 7 Day Shop 'Good To Go' series are Eneloop type batteries - 'only' 2100Mah, but hold that for a long time.

I have a set of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370526952403 and a set of Eneloop XX and don't notice that much difference between them, so if I was buying more I would just get the Vapextech ones again at half the price.

If you are charging in 20 minutes from flat though that suggests you are using a fast charger which will shorten the life of your batteries no matter which ones you use?

My charger is a Uniross fast charger so would the enelops or the 7day shop batteries work with that - fast charge

I believe they would work - but fast charge is done by increasing the charging current, and this will shorten the overall life of the batteries.

I have had my fast Uniross charger and batteries for years now and still going strong. I am just getting worried they might be getting to the end of their life but no evidence to support that

I bought 8 of the newer Eneloops and a Technoline BL-700 charger.

Will buy more batteries soon.
