as you know the sigma 30mm 1.4 i bought off ebay gave me a great deal of grief and cause to moan
The sigma 50mm f1.4 I purchased on the same day is a totally different matter
described as 1 month old it is like brand new in every way down to the packaging, paper work ,box and lens caps.
After I won the auction I received a message that he had a couple of filters and things that he would throw in if I wanted them, I of course replied yes please
what I received in the large box was obviously
1) minty minty mint sigma lens
2) a Hahnel remote shutter control
3) cokin square filters X3 and mount all in the original cases
4) cokin p164 circular polariser in original case again like new with a £45 price label still on it
5) a black rapid rs4 that looks brand new too

for the princely sum of £281.66 + rmsd which was listed at £7.50 and has cost him £9.75 + what ever he paid for the large post office mail box

To say I am very pleased is an understatement what a top purchase and what a top guy
More than makes up for my dodgy 30mm ebay purchase :D:clap::thumbs::):love:

ebay seller member since Dec 03 6 feed back all positive at 100%
just goes to show the stats mean nothing

I found 50mm a bit long on APS-C but the Siggy lives on my 5D.

I hope you get some good shots with it :D
 
a quick play with the new 50 makes the 30 seem slow and noisy
how do you find yours in comparison
I can't believe what I got thrown in for free especially when I found the black rapid rs4 in the box

As I mentioned in another thread it's a while since I had the 30mm but from what I remember the HSM the 30mm uses is probably a different/older design as it felt different (grittier) to that of the 50mm. I don't remember the 30mm being particularly slow but I'm not a fast shooter so even if it was it'd have to be veeeerrrrry sloooooow for it to register with me. I think the 30mm was probably a little noisier in operation though.

I got some good shots with the 50mm on my 20D but generally it felt a bit long on that camera and I'm happier with it on a 5D.

just had the confirmation email from sigma regarding my extended warranty registration
so I now have 3 years warranty
perfic
so not only did I get all the extra free goodies in particular a new black rapid strap
I now have 3 years uk sigma warranty so quite a bargain at £287
