Acronis TrueImage is the main competitor of Norton Ghost. It allows you to take a "snapshot" of your hard drive or partition and archive it to a file for later recovery. Unlike a normal backup procedure, this program copies files, bootsector, boot information, the lot. If for some reason Windows becomes corrupted and won't load, or you become seriously infected, just run Acronis again and in a few minutes, you have a working system once more.
Although showing it's age, it's a very useful tool indeed and best of all it's completely free but hurry because the offer ends on October 17th.

I recommend this App! I have been using Acronis for a couple of years now to help with imaging laptops at work. It can boot from the Acronis partition and from their you can connect to the network and restore an image... neato!

Excellent find mate.

I use Acronis, much better than ghost!
Infact I used it last week when I reformatted. A very handy tool indeed.

The other bit I would recommend is their Disk Director suite. The way it handles moving and re-sizing partitions is excellent
