Actuations!! how can you tell??

Hi, how can you tell how many actuatiions on a dig camera such as nikon D50?

The real question is: does it matter?
How many cameras have you heard about that fail due to too many actuations?
Its not uncommon for D70s, D80s etc to hit over 1 million.
Most folks replace digital cameras before getting anywhere close to the rated number anyhow

and stuff like the D70 and Canon 300/350Ds to fail (for vastly different reasons) under 20k :shrug:

Exactly - IMHO a camera thats done a good number has a proven reliability record - field tested if you will

The officially quotes shutter life is useless anyway - there's no indication of the spread of the number of actuations before failure.
1, 10000 and 19999 would have the same mean life time as 9999, 10000 and 10001
