Adobe bridge previews not opening

Yesterday and today when I have uploaded images to my external drive I have found that some of the files do not open as previews but show the CR2 icon instead.

This does not happen to all, just some.

Any ideas as to what is happening please.

no one ever had this problem?

I have checked bridge and its up to date.

Still the same though!
 
If bridge is up to date (my version is 4.0.4.2) I have CS5 and the problem is not with all the files I wonder if some of the files are getting corrupted or is it something to do with the external drive.
Just a couple of thoughts
What happens if you upload to your computer not the external drive?
Try a different CF card,in case there is something odd with one.
Other than that no idea,sorry
