Advice for Biggen Hill

I was thinking of taking my 9 year old son to see the Biggen Hill airshow this year, I've never been before and I reckon he would be old enough to appreciate it now. I don't especially want to pay extra for the Grandstand so what is the setup like if you just have the standard entry ticket? Can you take fold out chairs? Can I bring a tripod for video? that would be a plus with the 5dmkii. Is there much choice as to where you can stand/sit whatever... should we be thinking about getting there early to get a good location? if so where is the best place to get a good general view of the show.

Any issues I should be aware of or general advice gratefully received.

If he is interested in planes then it will be great. I was taken to quite a few airshows etc at that age and had a great time!

I don't know what jets are there but it is worth packing ear defenders for him, just in case, as some of the jets can be noisy for young children.

I haven't been to Biggin but can offer a general piece of air show advice.

Regardless of whether forecast take sun screen, a hat each and an umbrella. The umbrella works whether it rains or is sunny :)
