Ive got a selection of images that I want to get printed(a friend is doing it for me at his work) can anyone offer any advice on what I need to check for before I send them off to be printed?

not sure what your wanting here, are you meaning from film, or have you already had them developed and getting replicas,

are you wanting to check for red eye, in/out focus etc

If you are getting some one else to print them then to make sure there are no nasty surprises I would suggest the following

Colour Space: sRGB or AdobeRGB
PPI: 240-300
Crop: You could crop the image to fit the paper (ie 2.9x4.1 ratio fits all 'A' paper)

as suggested...get the shot down to your crop ratios and settings for pp

save at 300dpi or as large a file size as you can..if you cant hit 300 dpi

then it should be ok for digital printing

How do I check the dpi of a file? In windows exploree its saying one image horizontal is 72 and vertical 72. Not sure if thats correct?

not all printers print at 300dpi

A friend is printing them for me on his large..very large printer at work...its a pro bit of kit. I dont know what dpi it will be *** but I guess its top end stuff

if its epson the native resolution is 360 and multiples of it. you can print at 180 dpi and not tell the difference.

That's interesting, I never did know the ideal 'dpi' setting to use. So if I use settings on my Pro3800 of 90/180/270/360 depending on use this would be correct.
The reason I ask is, I normally use '240 dpi' for A3/A2 or '300 dpi' for A4.
Would I be correct in changing this to '270 dpi' for A3's/A2's and '360 dpi for A4's.
