....Guys n Gals,
I'm lucky enough to be going on a free trip to the Bahrain Grand Prix. And toggers been there and can advise on condition, lenses etc etc?? I'll be at the Turn 1 grandstand (original naming :) ) for the race, but for Fri and Sat practice Im sure you can free wonder like other circuits?

Any tips would be great

TIA!

Thank you Gary

If you do a search on these forums you'll be able to see some of my photos from last year. I was sat at University, on the exit to turn one/chicane that formed turn 2/3.

Advise - you wont be allowed in with bottles but wis available easily there. It was VERY hot last year, almost unbearable, so recommend to get under shade. The only place we could get shade was the grandstand so be ready for lots of time in your seats to try and keep out of the sun.

Lenses...I used a 70-200 plus a 1.4x converter for most of my shots.

Have fun!

David thanks for the advice. My father is out there now working, temp not dropping below 20 at night so Im fully expecting a lot of heat! :) :)

I dont have enough time to get money together to buy\hire a lens, but I do have a 250mm that has served me well in the past at grand prixs, hoping with the 7D i can do cropping to achieve reasonable results!

I guess the 250 and 7D will be fine. I shot with the 70-200 plus TC on a 50D making it 280mm+1.6x crop.

Definitely take cap, sunglasses and perhaps a change of t-shirt/long sleeve to protect the arms.
