Advice on buying a new Nikon off eBay

You really need to be asking the seller regarding the warranty, anything posted on here counts for nothing. My advice is don't buy from a seller who you can't have 100% confidence in, you're likely to get your fingers burnt

WEX are selling for £539 with a bag & card (Nikon has the £50 cashback on atm, so £489) & possibly 2 yrs Nikon warranty?

thanks all for the help WEX looks like they have some good deals. would a refrub camera be ok it only has a 6 month warranty, just worried if something went wrong with it seeing as its been repaired before.
 
Don't forget that it's `body only`, but you should be fine.
 
having had two nikon d7100 go tits up on me and having heard quite a lot of complaints about nikon quality control of late ,i would give grey imports a very wide berth indeed .buy from a u.k dealer pay the few pounds extra and have peace of mind

This all day long. If you are looking to spend circa £500 on a camera, spend 10% extra to get peace of mind.
 
As above, I'd buy from a UK place and have the warranty and you can get Nikon's cash back at the moment as well and peace of mind...
 
At £450 it can't possibly include VAT. (Add 20% and you get £540 which is exactly where the price is from mainstream retailers.) But that eBay retailer is demonstrably turning over more than the VAT registration threshold (at least £11,000 in November alone, based on eBay feedback), which means [1] the camera is an illegal import; and [2] the retailer is illegally evading VAT. I know what I'd do in those circumstances, and clicking on 'Buy it now' isn't part of it.

Ive mentioned before, ive had a Panamoz camera go wrong, shutter curtain was sticking, they do say its comes with a UK warranty but i was a little unsure, i sent it into them as they requested and i got it back as new with an invoice from Lehmanns of Stoke who are official Nikon repairers, all done within 10 days.

They also use a Nikon repairer in the North West, St Helens or Preston maybe, cant remember.

Should add that i also had an oil spotted D600 from them and they gave me the choice of a full refund or replacement, as i didnt like the camera anyway i opted for the refund which came through the very next day

where did you have to send it to gary ,do they have a u.k handling/forwarding office etc .this does install confidence in them though
 
hey all really appreciate the advice from everyone bought one from WEX on monday, and it turned up today :) problem was the battery didn't have much charge so haven't been able to play with it much :(

Frustrating waiting for it to charge eh :bang: but I think the idea is to read the manual while the battery is charging........not! :lol:
