I am in the process of (hopefully!) buying a D7000. I will be buying a 50mm for portrait lens but was hoping someone could steer me in the direction of a nice walkaround lens please! Fairly limited budget - maybe able to go up to £250, will def consider 2nd hand! Thanks, Sarah

Hard to argue with the Tamron 17-50 non VC. It's pretty highly regarded.
If that doesn't float your boat or you want a bit more range, there isn't a lot wrong with the kit 18-105 or you could maybe seek out a used 16-85 VR. All great choices.

if you buy the D7000 kit it should come with the 18-105 VR lens which is pretty good to behonest. Is no toy either. If buy body only then i would consider getting that Tamron 17-50 non VC.
