Advice on lens please

Hi,

I'm off on holiday for week soon to East Sussex and am thinking of hiring a lens to take with me. We intent to go to a safari park so I was thinking of something like a Canon 70-200mm L IS F4 to try and capture some good shots of the animals.

I have a 450d so this should effectively make it a 112-320 (if I have my maths right).

Any advice welcome.

Probably won't be long enough. I would get the 100-400L.
 
oh okay thanks so you think 320 is not going to cut it? I think the 100-400 is only £10 more for a week to hire so a possibility

I hired the 100-400L for an airshow at the weekend and its a great lens, great sharpness all the way to 400mm people say the sharpness drops slightly around 350-375mm I didnt really notice it that much. Nice and fast to focus and I quite liked the "push & pull" method it uses to extend. I would definitely get it againthe 100-400 range is so useful. I have pics taken with it in the trasport section if you want to take a look, the weather was pants and i never shot that type of thing before so if there is anythign glaringly wrong its my fault not the lens'.

ah... Just looked again at lensesforhire and there are none available for the week I'm away :(
