Advice On New lens for sony A77

Hi all,new to this site so excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong forum.
My question is about what lens to purchase. I'm trying to decide between the sony 70-400 f4-5.6 G2 or the Sigma 300 f2.8 prime. Main use would be for wildlife and sport.
What's your thoughts?
 
They're totally different lenses so it's hard to offer advice without some context. It would help if you could clarify what you mean by "wildlife" and "sport", and how much of each you do. It would also help if you could say what lenses you already have.

My lens collection is as follows
Sigma:
10-20mm 1.4-5.6
50mm 1.4
18-50mm 1:2.8
70-200mm 1:2.8
Tamron
90mm 1:2.8 macro 1:1
The sports I mainly do are road running and hockey.
The wildlife would mainly be birds, but this is all new to me.
I know I'm more restricted with lens choice with a Sony body
 
If "hockey" is field hockey then a 300mm f/2.8 would be great for that. I would have thought your 70-200 would be good for road running, but a 300 would be good too. In both cases I think the ability to get a faster shutter speed and blur the background, which a 300mm f/2.8 would give you, would be valuable.

In your position, budget permitting, I'd get the 300 for the hockey and 1.4x and 2x teleconverters to give me the options of 420mm f/4 or 600mm f/5.6 for birds. I'm not familiar with the Sigma 300mm f/2.8, bit most lenses of that class take teleconverters very well.

Went into WEX's today and were really helpful. Took the sony 70-400 G 2 outside and took a few shots. Must say a great lens. Now waiting for the 300 f2.8 to arrive in stock, then I can decide.
Whilst in the shop they showed me how to set up the peaking for MF very handy feature,
 
Bear in mind the sony sigma doesn't has the older screw blade focusing and isn't the high speed SMS focusing like the new sony zoom.
