Advice on Nikon upgrade

I got my D40 a year ago just to see if i would stick with photography or just another passing hobby . Im really happy with it but want to progress a little more i have a put a limit of £500 + D40 trade in for a body only , what nikon would you recomend , i have my eye on the D90 but might have to wait a while till it comes down .Also where can i trade in ?

Have you checked how much they will allow you trade in, you may be very disappointed, better selling the D40 yourself

Yeah trade in's usually net you half the price of what you would get selling here, or eBay.

Just had a quick check on ebay. A good estimate is £220 for you D40 body only.

Put the £200 (after fees etc) with your £500 and get a D90 - currently £669 at warehouse express.

You can send the leftover £30 to me for all my hard work

i went from Nikon D40 to Sony A300

Although I like my A300 setup and Sony features I've got itchy feet to try something different

I went from a D40 to a D90 and the difference is noticeable. The degree of control options has greatly increased allowing me to be more creative. Button layout is similar and the menu system, although much more in-depth, is very intuitive. The extra buttons allow you to quickly alter settings, so no more delving into menu's.
Picture quality is as you would expect, very good indeed.
