Hi :)

I have just been booked to do my first event - a school ball.

I need to be able to print on the night, so will be hiring a printer - but have no idea what the best one would be?

I have managed to get a friend along to help me, so I don't have to do too much - but what printer would you recommend for good results but simple?

Also, how does one go about doing any edits (do you do any edits?) or is it just a case of going wireless straight to the printer? I think I've seen from the pic on the Mitsubishi Click Lite printer that you can make adjustments on screen? Not sure if others do this too?

Any advice would be greatly received, as well as recommended hire places too - thanks!

i would speak to systeminsight or photosmart
They are very helpful and rent printers.

A good solution is to use Darkroom Professional and a dye sub printer. This will allow you to do minor edits like brightness, contrast etc. as well as crop. It also logs all sales as well as sizes, prices etc.

Darkroom Professional allows you to tether your camera also so the images are instantly displayed on the monitor as soon as they are taken.

This could end being one very expensive first prom! To try and keep initial costs down concider the following:

If your hiring a printer ok but maybe worth looking at buying a cheap (but ok) brand such as a Hi Ti especially if you are aiming to do more events. With this you can print direct from memory cards or connect to a laptop. For speed try shooting tethered (wireless prefered). Software for this is included with all Canon DSLR's but if Nikon user you have to pay extra. If so look at Google's Picassa which is free. If you want to preview your images before printing connect a monitor to your laptop but bewarned you will get crowds and watch out for mobiles and camera's sneaking shots off your screen!
