Advice on property images - lens / technique

Hi,

I'm taking some pictures of a friends property and wondered what lenses people recommend on a crop sensor. I've purchased a tokina 11-16 - is this OK?

Also any advice here on technique - bracketing the best option with adjustment in LR?

Finally what shooting height is mostly used..I presume just below head height ?

You should be ok with that lens,i used to do interiors for an estate agent using a sigma 10-20 without any probs.
Indoors i used to shoot in manual with flash in ettl bounced of the walls or ceiling and chimped accordingly.
The thing to watch for is converging verticals ,try to get the camera level it helps.

Firstly

• Are you doing interiors or exteriors?
• For what purpose are the shots required?
• Natural or artificial light?
• Size of rooms?

You will need an UWA lens and a FF allows quite a bit more, especially if you want minimal distortion and least PP correction.

I use a 14-24mm on a FF which covers most bases. Similar to using down to a 10mm on a crop sensor. But dont use a lens that heavily distorts otherwise you will spend all your time in front of the computer.

For most purposes I prefer waist height or well above head height, but it does depend.

I prefer manual or aperture priority and for internal shots will use around three or more speedlights strategically positioned out of sight in most cases. Beware of colour casts from other walls or ceilings if not neutral colours.

The use of studio strobes may be appropriate in some circumstances.

Always use a good strong tripod and lock up the mirror if using only ambient light.
