Advice please on nex 7 lens choice

I'm waiting for my nex7 to arrive..it's oming with the Sony 18-55 lens..I've been looking at buying the Sony prime 50mm f1.8 lens aswell..but am now also looking at the Sony ..55-210 lens..so as I can only afford one extra lens..do I buy the prime 50 mm lens or the zoom 55-210 lens??
 
which is more important to you - extra reach or less DoF &/or more light transmission?
 
To be honest I will at sometime get both..but as a total newbie to photography I'm only just learning..still looking for a good how to book!!..but can't afford both lenses for my upcoming trip to Mexico so I can only get one!!!
 
Sorry I never really answered your question....if I'm honest...and don't knock me down for saying this..I'm not to sure!
 
Hopefully..the local ruins and local sights..but would also like to get some real decent pics of my wife in the nice settings..and if I can get out of bed early enough one morning..the sunrise
 
some places might do you interest free so that you could get both now?
Have you thought of something like the Sigma 30mm f2.8 EX DN (think that there is 1 for sale in the For Sale forum atm)?

A 50mm prime is great for shallow depth of field and for coping with low light situations where as a 55-210 telephoto lens is great for cropping in and compression and picking out detail in a narrow depth of field, Not for lazy people who cant be bothered to walk to get the composition needed.

These are 2 totaly different lenses and with the telephoto being a lot bigger you gotta remember your gonna have to carry this aournd with you, you gotta decide whats more important to you.
