Right i have a canon eos 450d with 18-55mm and 55-250mm cannon lenses.. my dilemma is i have £400 to spend on a lens for airshows/wildlife which of the following should i go for.. anyone post pics done with either..
Tamron 150-600mm
Sigma 150-500mm
Both of wich i can just about get second-hand in my budget

Definitely the Tamron 150-600 - it’s a fine lens and a big improvement over the Sigma you mention. I think you may struggle to get one for your £400 budget though, you may have to add some more to get one.

Siggy in the classifieds for 530 I own one stellar lens

Yeah.. i can't access classifieds yet.. and if its the sigma 150-500mm i can get them under 400 from various places

Canon 400mm f5.6 or a Canon 300mm f4 IS+1.4 TC

I have the Tamron 150-600mm and rate it highly. It is sharper at 550mm than 600mm so I tend not to shoot at 600mm. The difference in framing/fov between 550mm and 600mm is trivial imo. I'll post some pics tomorrow when back on the computer. Most of my Wildlife pics on my Flickr are with this lens.

It's a bun fight. I have a sigma 150-600c great lens. What you need to think is apples for apples tamron or sigma 150-600

Tamron 150-600 every time over the Sigma 150-500,the 150-500 is from a time when Sigma lacked a bit in quality control and the lenses can vary a lot, some got very good lenses and some didnt,if you go for the Sigma it would be best if you could test it and return it if your not happy.

But the op says they can't afford the sigma 150-600mm hence comparing the Sigma 150-500mm (y).

Of those 2 then the Tamron is the newer/better lens...the Sigma equivalent is excellent too.... maybe save a bit more cash and give yourself the choice

I have looked at these two lenses and they are about £50 difference new. So I think not a lot different in the used marketplace

In the choice between the tamron 150-600 and the sigma 150-500 I’d go tamron.
