I have a Nikon D300 and just purchased a Sigma 1.4 teleconverter to go with my Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens.

I have discovered it will also fit my Nikon 70-30mm Vr f4.5-5.6 lens. Is there any reason why I should not use this combination as it seems to work ok.

Thanks for any replies

You will likely lose autofocus ability and the IQ would be pretty crappy.

Just check that the rear element of the 70-300 does not project beyond the mount at the back during focusing or zooming, you would not want it to collide with the element of the converter.

The autofocus works ok, also there is plenty of room between the Nikon lens and converter so nothing hits anything. In actual fact there is almost twice as much clearance on the Nikon rear lens than there is on the Sigma. The advantage of using this combo is I now have VR up to 420mm+ as the lens is now in theory that bit further away from the sensor .Accepted that the aperture will also be altered but that can be easily overcome

I was worried incase it had any adverse affect on the camera or lens

I think that if you check out that converter on Parks Cameras website it has a link to a list of combatible lenses.
