Hi all. Im going to the London Aquarium tomorrow and i was wondering what settings and any advise i may need to shoot through the glass. Obviously no flash and to keep the lens against the glass to stop any reflection, but as this is going to be a 1 off, i dont want to come away empty handed :bonk:

I've used flash i aquariums, but granted, that was in Asia so the may have different rules. I just bounced it around instead of using direct, although surfaces to bounce off where pretty limited.

Choose a high ISO to get you good shutter speeds and decent DoF - your camera can go right up there can't it, so I'd shoot 3200 or higher and you'll still be good.

As you say, shoot as close to the glass as possible to cut down on reflections - a CPL might help with reflections also but not sure how effective it would be.

Shoot raw because the WB in aquariums is all over the place.

A rubber lens hood helps too.

Shoot raw and take a fast lens as generally aquariums don't allow flash.

Like you say, get up close to the glass to avoid reflections. I found the main challenge to be avoiding the school trips running all over the place but hopefully you won't have that issue on a Sunday :p

ok ... now im in 2 minds what lens to use. its a choice between the 14-24 or the 24-70?
