I have an Olympus E - 410 with a 14 - 42 mm lens and a 40 -150 mm lens.

I understand that for DSLR the focal length is double what is indicated on the lens?

I am visiting Dubai next week and would like a wide angle lens and a strong telephotos for motorsport.

Any suggestions including best supplier.

Thanks

Get the 9-18 for wide-angle and the 50-200 for telephoto work. The 50-200 (old version rather than the SWD version) will be fine on your E-410 - pick one up second-hand from ebay or london camera exchange etc. The SWD version will not be fully exploited by the older Olympus bodies like the E-410.

The focal length is as stated. However, the field of view of a 100mm lens on a fourthirds body (like the E-410) across the diagonal is the same as a 200mm lens on a 35mm film camera. That is why you often hear that the focal length doubles - not strictly true - it just appears to be the case.

Check out my instructions (some of which are applicable to the E-410) on using Olympus cameras for shooting moving objects: http://www.fourthirds-user.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6132
