I've had both the bieke type and the 393. The 393 probably rotated better but it was very large and heavy. The 393 plate isn't a acra Swiss either so that may be a problem if you are going to use a few different lenses. I swapped from the bieke to the 393, I never sold the bieke as with postage it's not worth it, I did end up selling on the 393 for a ball head to only have one head and plate type.
Thanks Rob, think i'll stick with the bieke then, only because someone else has started to bid on a certain site, i have a 496rc on the monopod that's easily swapped over if need be too

I have the Bieke Gimbal head and use to use the 393 Manfrotto, I sold the 393 as the Beike is simply a much better head imho and I use a different ballhead for landscape work
