Hello all,
I have bought a Panasonic Lumix G3 with 14-42mm zoom lens and I bought the 20mm pancake.

I want to use it to its best advantage. I have put some pictures in my gallery that were taken with my old Canon Ixus 800 compact. Obviously the qualityisn't stunning but if you could give me tips on composition it would be great.

Hi Phil

If you post a thread in the @Feedback & Critique' section, under the relevant topic and I would add some of the photos you are not happy with in the thread (you're more likely to get feedback if the photos are there to be looked at), I'm sure you'll get some help. If you try to explain why you're not happy with them, helps people give you pointers...

It's not that I'm not happy, I quite like them but sometimes when someone with more experience points something out that would make a picture a gem you learn from it, if you know what I mean. You sometimes get that "Oh yeah, that would look a lot better" moment.

If you Google composition tutorials there's a wealth of information out there.

Composition is something that I've just recently begun paying more attention to, and I'm surprised at how much information and techniques that there are out there.

A good read is "The Photographer's Eye" bye Michael Freeman. Its a fantastic book and really helps to understand how different factors impact the composition in photographs.
