advise needed

Hello all

I want to buy my first DSLR as a birthday present to myself , i am looking at the canon eos D from jessops http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/80640/show.html i know it doesn't have IS but how important is it??, i might get a flash gun as well 430EXii to bounce the flash (i understand bounce flash).

I thought to get that and add lens at a later date.
I need to be able to walk into the store and pay cash , would i get any discount paying cash .

I chose canon because i all ready have 2 cannon cameras anyway powershot A700 with WC-DC58N lens and the powershot A3150is.

great entry level camera, research how much more a 600D is - might be worth the extra.
canon have IS in their lenses, not in the bodies like sony do.

EDIT - Is there no way you could buy over the internet? you could get that camera for £500 and a 600D for £690, both with kit lens

thanks for your reply , i might go for the 550D, how important would the extra lens be?. Personally i would like IS but cant justify the extra cost, ant thinking why it is so superior now??

how far would an 18-55mm lens reach, is there an online calculator its a very long time since i used an slr.

Can you recommend any good online store?

That all depends on how big the thing is you're shooting. I've got images of something 20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 miles away!

Tell us what sort of pictures you want to take and we can advise you on what lenses would be best. But I'll bet that the replay would be the 18-55 along with the 55-250.

you certainly wouldn't go far wrong with a 550d with twin lens kit. I have a 550 with an 18-55 IS kit lens and am over the moon with the quality. I got mine at xmas and have already added to my kit lens with a tamron 28-300 vc which gives very satisfying results. Now looking for a 100-400 L and a 100mm L macro to complete my set.

i know its not the newest version, but it will still do the same job, then I'm going to add the 430ex2, because i dislike on board flash (i said to myself the next camera i would buy would have a hotshoe for flash), or should i leave it, I'm confused
