Ive recently secured a job to take some publicity shots of two local choirs that will be used in a promotional brochere. The first one is a small choir of about 20 people so not overly concerned about that one, ill take a few candids and individual head shots and a few ormal team photos
However the second one is of a large choir with 120 people to be taken whilst rehearsing in a school hall this one concerns me a bit, the backdrop will be cluttered and the lighting probably not ideal ill use my Tamron 17-50 F2.8 which will just about be wide enough to get everyone....any tips here how best to avoid the distracting backdrop or is it just a case of dealing with it in photoshop ?
Any general tips on this sort of assingment as its a totally new one to me ill probably use the SB-600 bounced for the school hall shot but will try some high ISO tripod shots with the D90 if the light is ok in there. I prefer candids so will aim to capture them in full song rather than something more staged I'm thinking a curved line up might reduce the flash drop off at the edges. I've only the one SB-600 so can't use 2 off camera flashes at either sides although i'm sure this would be preferable. Might see if I can borrow one.
Also any thoughts on a reasonable fee ? i reckon itll be an hour for each shoot, and a couple of hours PPing so I was thinking around the £100 mark....is this too cheap as she will be using the images for a commercial venture?
Thanks in advance on any tips here
Mike.
