AE keeps appearing problem

Using a canon camera.. there is an AE lock button (also used to zoom) and it keeps appearing on the screen (info bar top of camera) as if I had pressed it.. ie an asterix appears and a second exposure point.. happens now and then but becoming frequent..

i aint pressing owt.. any ideas?

Finger resting on the Fn button perhaps that is doubling as the AE button?

Dont think so.. been using camera same way for many yrs.... I dont discount it.. but doubtful.. not somehting I can say for sure.. but hmm no

It's not the palm of your hand pressing the button on the vertical grip is it? Happens to me every now and then. Haven't found a way to "unlock" it other than to take a shot or turn the camera off.
