AEB image merging

Hi, I succesfully merged 3 images I took using AEB with photoshop CS3, however I wanted to do some more adjustments but none of the options I wanted were highlighted in the menus. The image mode was RGB and I couldn't change it, I'm a bit of a photoshop novice (obviously) but can do the basics as have been playing with it for quite a while now!

How do I convert the image so I can use the menu options that are normally present?!

Not answering your question directly, but I use Photomatix for blending AEB sets and am impressed with the outputs.

Err - you normally do work in RGB in photoshop. What were you trying to do that was greyed out?

After you have done the merge, have you re-selected the layer to ensure photoshop knows you want to make adjustments to that layer?

Also you might have to flatten the image to make sure you can edit it all rather than just the 3 pictures... (shortkey: CTRL+SHIFT+E)

Half the filter options were not available, nor the brightness/contrast and a few other settings, when I normally just edit jpegs all these are live options. Sorry not good with the tech speak of photoshop!

Here is a print screen of where I set the WB, thing is it still leaves the sky well over exposed or the rest of it too dark, I'm probably missing something but I was expecting more variable adjustment.

I cant deny the shadows under the trailer etc are miles better, just sorting out the sky that is the trouble, unless I just select it from the darker image and copy it into the merged image? It also looks a bit flat, no bright colours when merged. Obviously cs3 has the capability to produce fantastic images but I dont yet!

That is a great link thankyou! For the first time my computer is actually feeling slow- I can see getting into PP is gonna give me another upgrade bug

All the options etc are there after following that link, but after his awesome cathedral sample pic my rusty old trailer seems dull as!!!
